B2 If I Had Known
Grammar Focus: Third Conditional (if I had…, I would have…)
In the Story
In Act III 'The Depth' of 'The Cartographer of Arkhe', the cartographer faces the unchangeable past: 'if I had known, I would have stayed'. Through the Third Conditional they speak of unreal past conditions and their unreal results — what cannot be undone.

Lyrics
English
If I had known, I would have stayed If I had seen the price we paid If you had called, I would have come If I had listened, I would have won (Too late now, too late...) If we had spoken, we'd have known If I had stayed, you wouldn't have gone If I had known I would have stayed If I had known I wouldn't have strayed If I had known If you had waited one more night I would have found the road, the light If I had opened up the door You would have never left the shore If I had trusted what I knew I would have made it back to you If I had asked you once to stay You would have never walked away Had known. Would have. But I didn't. If I had known, the past rewritten. If I had known, I would have stayed.
Türkçe
Bilseydim, kalırdım Ödediğimiz bedeli görseydim Arasaydın, gelirdim Dinleseydim, kazanırdım (Artık çok geç, çok geç...) Konuşsaydık, bilirdik Kalsaydım, gitmezdin Bilseydim Kalırdım Bilseydim Yoldan çıkmazdım Bilseydim Bir gece daha bekleseydin Yolu, ışığı bulurdum Kapıyı açsaydım Kıyıyı hiç terk etmezdin Bildiğime güvenseydim Sana geri dönerdim Bir kez kalmanı isteseydim Çekip hiç gitmezdin Bilmek. Olurdu. Ama bilmedim. Bilseydim, geçmiş yeniden yazılırdı. Bilseydim, kalırdım.
